SC was reported to have had a bad hatch during 2002, but yesterday I called in two more jakes to run the total to 19, since Mar. 15th. No mature birds, just those crazy jakes. They're gobbling as well as sneaking in and I'm already thinking about all the 2 year old gobbling birds next year. Just wish a mature bird would show or I'm going to pop a jake the last week of Turkey Wars 2004. Have all 5 tags at the ready, but no legs to put them on. I'd rather let a jake walk, but this is getting way out of hand. Well, I look at it as realistic call practice with real results, but a 2+yr.old would be nice. Season ends May 01, so there's still a chance....

Jakes taste good too. Just bust one for the grill.

Well, the 24th jake responded to the call and came in. He was gobbling good, but when he got close, he started to "yawk-n-gobble", so i put the gun down and got the digi-cam ready. Got some pics, but don't see a [Browse] feature. SC Turkey Wars are Mar.15-May01 w/5 birds and all I can get is 'catch-&-release' practice!
