the hunt was pretty cool....didn't turn out to be the bowhunt i had wanted but it was still great...had 4 different birds gobblin' bigtime....flydown time came and they were still gobblin' so i started callin' a lil more couple soft yelps, some purrin',and a cluck here and there...had a hen come walkin' by at first light.....then a gobbler was talkin' back and comin' closer and closer... then it got all quiet...finally a gobble but it was headed away from us so i had my husband call using his call...it turned "them" around ...added some more clucks and purrs and just waited...now i have two birds comin' in and both are gobblin'....whoo whoo....i was shakin' like a leaf ...i saw movement and knew i couldn't use my bow so i put her down and grabbed the gun....got into position and bout that time the turkey stopped right in the middle of one of my shootin' lanes....he stretched his head real high lookin' for the hen and i didn't want to take any chances so i dropped him...went runnin' up to him and there's his buddy runnin' away....it was great. then i thought i lost my dogwood striker (again)...i was searchin' everywhere...pullin' everything out of my backpack...i was freakin' but then decided i could go back tomorrow and search. i really wish i could have gotten him with my bow but the teamwork callin' in that bird was just as rewarding....or at least right up there. it was the first hunt that my husband has gone on with me in probably 7yrs. so he was thrilled. i was usin' my kaiser call...purpleheart glass...my dogwood striker.....got him early.....got home and but found my striker in my pocket....hee hee giggle giggle. ;D no more huntin' until sept....told my chickens today that they need to be very afraid cause i still need to practice my bow shootin'. btw-it was another freak bird....only one spur...not even a knub....not even a knub of a knub....lol. 14lbs.....must have been a struttin' fool cause his wings were all beat up...8in. beard...tips were light brown which was kinda cool...one inch spur. ds- i'll send ya a pic so you can post it.....let me rephrase.....if you would post it i'd appreciate it tons and bunches. ;D

Way to go Fl! Nothing like a season limit to satisfy you until September. Great story. Im beginning to wonder if that FREAK zone isnt some former toxic waste dump. Alot of funky looking turkeys coming out of that place.
