IT'S NOT JUST IN YOUR AREA.....THIS YEAR FOR SOME REASON THEY ARE WAY QUIET. SUCKS TOO CAUSE I LIVE TO HEAR THAT FIRST GOBBLE EACH YEAR....THIS YEAR I WAS TWO WEEKS BEHIND SCHEDULE AND IT WAS A DISTANT CALL UNLIKE THE ONES THAT ARE USUALLY RIGHT ON TOP OF OF ME. BETTER THAN NOTHING I GUESS.

The past 4 yrs. has had more silent birds that the normal. Coyotes are a big reason as they're responding to gobbling and hen talk from the on-set of phase 1. Too many rookies are calling while scouting and thr Run and Gun tactic is spooking unseen birds. Hens aren't the only problem. In areas where I could hear multiple birds gobbling every AM, I'm lucky to hear a bird at all. Just adapt and learn to hunt silent birds. Anyone can work a gobbling bird. It's the silent birds that clear the woods for the die-hard silent bird hunters.
