Here is a Trumpet style call made by Ralph Permar. The call is made of African Blackwood and is 8-9/16in. overall and is numbered #17. This is a mellow toned suction call and can be ran loud to locate or soft to finish. Different sound for hard pressed gobblers.

About as hard as the wingbone. The first thing you have to learn with the suction style calls is that handling the call soft and easy is better. Most people have trouble with these calls because they want to control the call and handle it with more aggression. This is a call that you practice with for a short time and put it dpwn for awhile. Your lips will get tired and you will begin to make weird noises and then you'll try to control the call and only get worst. You have to rest and then go back to the call. I usually cluck once/twice, yelp 5-8 times and put the call down. The cluck will let you know if the call is seated correctly on the lips and short calling won't make ypur lips sore. I wear dentures and they rub the inside of my lips, when using this call, so I call in short series of clucks and yelps.
