It's a 10 point. I set up on the ground above a flat with a good scrape line. I saw a small spike early Sat. morning and nothing else all day. Sunday morning a button buck came within 20 yards and I got my first deer with a handgun. After talking with my wife on the phone I turned and he was standing above me on the ridge. He lowered his head and away he went (toward me). I grabbed my 30-30 and stopped him 12 yards away with a grunt. BANG! He made it just past the flat into 75 yards of straight up and down gully. It took me all day to drag that thing out of there. I would have shot him with the handgun if I knew he would make it to the steep part.  ;D No I wasn't in any contest. |
