Along about this time of year I start getting spasams in my legs to start walking around in the woods, my neck starts pulling towards my back and going from side to side, then back down, my trigger finger starts twiching backwards and forewards. My speach starts getting "Buckor Bull or Doe, Cow Hitting-Missing Rut, ect, ect". Worked into the conversation. This only gets worse as the season nears. And it's terribly embarrasing at work!!! At home my wifey knows the signs and just lets me be, I start reading all the magazines, and planning the hunts, re-reading the game laws- incase the powers that be have changed something. Calling buddies, checking gear, and rechecking it. Sighting guns and re-sighting them.Yes July first is a great day!!! I guess the fourth of July weekend is o.k. too. Hunt hard, Hunt fair. Shadowwalker
P.S. I fish too, But only when I get the chance.

ITs too darn hot! All I think about this time of year is night fishing. However around labor day weekend I start going into hunting convulsions.

Oh how I feel for you poor deprived folks, here when I feel the urge I just go out Deer hunting all legal too, biggest decision seems to be which rifle to take and whether to take the .22r/f as well in case of fox, rabbit r squirrel.
Felt like this on Sunday morning two weeks ago so I loaded up a .303 sporting rifle and my Silenced BSA .22R/f, put the dog in the car and off we went, came home with a Grey Squirrel tail and a nice fat Doe Bunny. Saw two Deer, first was a Fallow Dpoe at abot 70 yards, but they are out of season just now then saw the flank and the rear of a Roe Buck at about 20 feet. trouble was I was hunting squirrels at that moment so had the rimfire in my hands. Roe Bucks ARE in season.
Oh well next!

So Brithunter what are your seasons like there? As far as deer Alabama is late and long for the South being Bow start mid-Oct., gun start mid-Nov., and all end at the end of January. Squirell is a mid Oct. through Feb..
Also you have to take the weather into acount here. I think you could get the hummidity in Manchester but you would need to crank the heat up to about 37degs C. It gets so humid you can see it. I think as soon as we get that first breath of cooler and drier air in the fall we start twitching around here.

Hi Redoak,
Now don't fall off your chair now, we have Deer Hunting All year round ;D
With six species to hunt there are at least 3 in season at any one time, our seasons also split male female, right now it's Roe Bucks which are the main thing, but Chinese water Deer and Muntjac are still is season as they have no close seasons at all. Starting august 1st we also get Fallow bucks come in Roe Bucks don't finish till October 31st and the Does come in on November 1st till Feb 28th.
August 1st also sees Red and Sika Stags come into season until April 30th Does are November 1st till Feb 28th. So it depends what species you have in your area, where I am there are not Reds but there are some Sika a few miles from me though i ahve never seen them myself they are there. We have Roe, Fallow and a few Muntjac where I mainly hunt.
