I was just wondering if any of you had a build it yourself plan for a deer feeder?

Simple gravity flow feeder Use a 4-6" pvc pipe 5 ft long. Put a 90 deg elbow on one end & a screw cap on the other. Paint with camo colors & strap to a medium size tree (elbow down & flush to ground). Will hold about 50# of feed.
Simple drop feeder Use a 5 gal bucket with lid & handle. You will need a broom handle about 3 ft long. Drill hole in center of bucket bottom where broom handle will have about 1/4" all the way around when inserted. Take a tennis ball (or rubberball about the same size) cut a hole in it large enought to insert broom handle & glue to handle. Insert through bucket hole where ball will be inside bucket. (Optional) Glue another ball on outside end of broom handle. Fill with feed & hang near deer travel area at a height that deer can reach the bottom end of broom handle. Put peanut butter on end to attract deer to bump handle. Feed will drop from bucket. In a short time deer will associate bumping the broom handle with feed & bump it without the peanut butter.

noonebil I've used the PVC Pipe,I just left a little bit of cleareance at the bottom.Trouble with them is I'm feeding all the Turkeys, have to fill it about every 3 days.I feed a couple hundred pounds a month which can run into $$'s
deergrower the best thing I do is plant patches of Clover, mow and fertilize once a year.So not to much trouble to take care of.If you feel real industrious.I've seen them plant Corn over seeded with Clover, seemed to work good gave them the Corn for about 3 years.

No turkeys where I have hunted, but I can see where that would be a problem. Also, bears will tear anything up that is not super strong. Hogs will 'hog up' all the feed too & damage feeders. Squirrels will chew up plastic parts & racoons will get into any type feeder ( smart little critters).

i read about one, used a length of pvc pipe, with a threaded cap at the top. a wire was run through the cap to hang from the tree. a funnel, big enough to fill the bottom of the pvc was attached (i can't remember how) with enough play, to allow corn to fall out when the deer bumped it

Thanks Rak, and it works really good, holds about 200 lb of corn which last about a week when the deer are really using it good.
