One one 78 acre tract of land I have in the last 10 years we have killed bucks weighing 264, 242, 237, 229, 224, and probably a half dozen or more between 200-220 lbs. 220 lb. bucks are a normality in this area and even after they are run down skinny from the rut thew average is probably 180-220 lbs. Mature does average around 140 lbs. but I've killed 3 this year that weighed in at 160 lbs. Not all southern deer are small but some are. Within 20 miles of this tract of land, on the river, a huge buck will weigh in at 160 lbs. and does average 90-100 lbs. I live and hunt near the Flint River cooridor in Georgia.

He my property is only a couple miles from the Flint and we don't have 200lb+ deer. We have killed a couple but the average buck is probably in the 180 range.

Biggest Ive seen was 268 here. a 180# deer is really considered big though.

I hunt the marine base in onslow county n.c. Most of the deer are small but there are alot of them.You get off the base into the county and it is like 2 different worlds.Biggest I got dressed around 215.
