Well back from vacation with nothing to show for it. First three days dindn't see a deer, the full moon and hot weather had them moving at night. Finally Tuesday evening had a shot at a nice six point at 12 yrds. Hit a limb. Next couple days saw several seer but couldn't get a shot. Finally Friday it really cooled down and the deer started moveing. Heard two bucks really going at it a 100yrd away or so but couldn't get them out of the thick stuff for a shot. Finally had two spikes come in, shot the first one. Got down started tracking it , bright pink blood everywhere for about 50yrds then nothing. Looked for 3 hours and no sign of it. First time I ever lost a deer with the 243. Well it was a great week anyhow. The bucks are really starting to get going in south Ga. now but it will be 3 weeks before I can get back up there.

Dammitson. I guess that's the way it goes sometimes, huh. We still have plenty of season left though. It really sucks having to work for living doesn't it? That's the only reason I occasionally buy a lottery ticket, so I can change my job from making electricity to hunting. ;D

tough break GCH...sorry to hear it....keep at'em
I shot my first with a 243...he ran about 75 to 80 yards before expiring...right at dark too...thought I had lost him for good...thats when I moved to the 06...haven't had to track one since...the 243 is a smooth shooting nice gun and can really reach out and tag one
what kind of loads are you shooting?
I know 3 weeks seems like an eternity...but hang in there I know you'll get him
