I wish I trusted my aim enough for a head shot, but a shoulder shot usually anchors them quickly (hate the meat loss though.)

I like to bust em 2/3 up and use the leg as a guide for the vertical Xhair. One of the dudes I hunt with loves to bust em in the head all the deer he has shot this year were in the head.

Boiler room. About halfway up and 2 - 3" behind the shoulder.

I have to go for behind the shoulder. I just feel that I can hit the vitals with no problems going for that shot.

I'll take a neck shot if I feel comfortable with his postition. If he too far out or he's not where I can get a bullet in his neck, my next preffered shot would be behind the shoulder.

Every deer I have ever hit in the neck..dropped in their tracks..this year I have about half and half..neck vs. shoulder..
when I bust one in the shoulder alot of that meat is wasted at the processors..a good neck shot wastes little meat
