We're going out this evening to a place that people have been seeing a lot of elk, hopefully I'll get a few pics and hear a bugle or two. I'm guessing it will be pretty crowded, but hopefully we'll see something anyway.

Was on my way up to my pards place today to load up our gear in the trailer for our trip tonite and we saw two spiker bulls coming thru a barley field.I couldn't friggin believe it.I got the Missus to drive to the top of the feild cause the elk were walking that way and sure enough they came to within 50 yards of the jeep. What's unusual is they are about 50 miles from any elk habitat. If that zone would have been open for elk I'd a had the bow out in a New York minute.I'm thinkin it's a good omen for our elk hunt this week .

I hope it is Blue.
We stayed until almost dark and didn't see a thing other than a few tracks and bunches of people riding around in vehicles and on horseback. I thought I heard one bugle but I only heard it once and wouldn't bet on it. We found a great looking pond with deep trails coming to it, but hadn't been there 10 minutes when some guys came out there to shoot their blackpowder rifles. atleast 100 miles of wide open mountains and they just had to come out there.

I guess it does kinda look like one. It certain places you would swear it was out west somewhere.
