Well we didn't get drawn for bull moose this year .So now the plans have turned into an elk hunt.As I mentioned in the bow forum we have eyes in southern Alberta looking for elk.My freinds Dad and brothers live down there and are telling us that there's elk every where this year.Yesterday we got exclusive permission to hunt a 10,000 acre ranch. We're told there's up to 500 elk on this place. On the sixth we're headed down for the archery opener and we'll also set up camp for a 10 day rifle hunt for the middle of the month. The elk should be in full rut by then. I'm so stoked about this hunt.Rons Dad calls him every other day to give him a report on elk sightings,He said if we don't arrow an elk on the first day we're not hunting with our eyes open.

So you don't have to draw a tag for elk like you do for moose?

No,most zones are over the counter, all bulls have to be three points though and all cows are draw.

Yea,just one side.A two year old bull will be what we call a raghorn,it'll have three to four points but there's usually no simatry to the rack. The last bull I got was a 4x5.
