Me and a pard were going to go to Colorado to hunt pheasant in Nov.,but it looks like we'll run into some trouble with firearms when we try to bring them back to Canada. So now we're going to fall back on our original plans.A moose hunt up in northern Alberta. We both have three priority points on bulls,so the odds are pretty good to draw a bull tag this year.
I've been doing some early ground work looking for the WMU that gives us our best chance.I wanted to hunt the rut which happens in October, but then we won't be able to hunt deer at the same time.Everyone I know who's been up there says the chances of killing a big white tail are real good,so that would move the hunt into November. We're prepared for cold weather hunting if it does get cold and it should have the deer into prerut. So now we have to toss all this around and finalize the plans.
I've been pouring over my maps of the area we're looking at,a place called Spirit River.Pretty much roadless country and all boreal forest, which means heavy bush and lots of muskeg. But it holds a good number of big bulls.A guy I know killed a 49 inch bull there last year just after having missed a 60+ inch bull earlier in the day.

What's the deal with the guns bro? Guns are the enemy socialist governments and maybe that's it?

It has to do with our firearms registration. It's a law that is bogus and I don't agree with, nuff said at this point.

Hey Blue, good luck with your hunt. Too bad a citizen can take guns out but not bring them back - kinda hard one to figure there, especially since your talking about scatterguns and not "assault weapons."
Anyway, I hope y'all find a good hunt in the WMU and good luck drawing your permits.

Hopefully you all will get drawn and have a great trip. Whitetail and moose hunting on the same hunting trip would be awesome.
