How many of y'all use them for hunting and what kind do you use. We have a couple of the Motorola ones, I think they have like a five mile range. We only use them in case one of us (me or dad) shoots a deer and needs help or something like that.

I have about 4 pairs of them. I use them for everything from communicating with my kids on the dock, to keeping in touch with my wife in Wal Mart. All the kids in the hunt club have them & the adults use CB's.

to keeping in touch with my wife in Wal Mart. I know what you mean ;D I've got them and use them mostly while at ft knox or other quota hunts. If you know the areas, you can keep up with where other hunters are if they're using them too, and its kind of a warning when others jump deer and tell the world which direction they're heading. I think the 5 mile range on those radios only pertains to those who use them in kansas..where its flat

My club used to use CBs but we use the 2 ways now. They are easier to use and carry in the woods. The dog driver will use them to let us know which way the deer is goin.

They're not legal to use here for hunting.I have buddies who have them and do use them to stay in contact with hunting partners, but you cannot direct or alert someone that game is moving.

I hunt with a pretty big group, we run dogs and we all use them. Most of us have motorolas. I have heard that it doesnt matter the range that they say its the watts that matter. I think they go up to like 4 or 5 watts and i have heard thats what matters most. Some claim they work 10 miles but that 10 miles might be down a long straight flat road, not in the middle of the woods. This is just what i have heard and believe to be true.

they work great on the lake, but in the woods you have to be in a clear line of sight. we also use them on road trips to keep in contact between vehicles. they have come along way in the last few years, but motorola still are the best.
