Who here hunts bears? I am trying to get my baits started, but every darn time I put out vanilla, and liquid smoke to get a good scent going, we get rain the same stinkin' day, and it washes my scents away. Anybody have any "secret recipes" that they are willing to share? Today I mixed up some deep fryer grease, with a bottle of anise oil, and that stuff stinks out loud, smells really good. I am thinking the oil should hold the scent some even if it gets rained on. Can you think of anything else? A few years ago, I was given a bottle of "Burning Sweet" that I got from a guy in Canada, and it was awesome stuff, but I cant find it anywhere. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

I doubt that this will help any but I know a guy that hunts bear and he swears by honey buns to bring them in. We really have a growing population here and I hope sometime in the future for us to have some sort of limited season.

I bear hunt here in Nova Scotia, Canada. Our season's going to open on Sept 12th,I've got 3 baits out and all are active. If I can be of any help don't hesitate to ask away, bear's are extremly fun to hunt and a joy to bait.I usually start with simple fryer fat and doughnut's,go from there once they start to hit the bait's alittle. I've got 3 good friends coming up from the USA this fall to hunt with me and we are very excited about opening evening of the season.Good luck to everyone that try's to tag a bear this fall.
