I finally got out after the coyotes yesterday. We were up at 3:30am, and headed for our first calling spot. Below zero temps made for a cold snowmobile ride out. We heard something coming in, but never could get it in the red light. Spot #2 was 1.5 miles away. Set up and began calling. We seen something run across the open, but too far away for the shotgun. Spot #3 was light when we got there, so we could take the rifles. We no more than got set up, and started calling, and a coyote ran out, and wanted the decoy real bad. John shot him, and dropped him on the spot. John was a bit excited, and jumped up for the victory dance. He didnt see the other coyote that was also coming in, and spooked him out before I could get him in the scope. We never even picked up the coyote that we shot. It was full of mange, and looking very bad. Looks like the ravens get to eat well for a day or two. Definitely had fun yesterday, and cant wait to go out and give it another try. Hopefully the next one we shoot will be in good shape, and I will have pics.
