Finally snuck off of work and went to my farm in Ga. last night. Went out to my lease to see how much work I had to get in b4 season starts. Less than 200yrds inside the gate was about a 48inch diameter oak laying in the middle of the road. 3 hours later in 98 degree heat I had it cut up and out of the way. Drove around the rest of the property and things weren't to bad, have to go up next week and do some bushhogging and move a couple of stands but thats about it. Since it so late I will probably just wait till Oct. and plant food plots of winter peas.

To damn hot is right. I think im gonna go into hibernation until after labor day. What brand of chain saw do you use?. My craftsman bit the dust and I need another one. What brand would you recommend?. I plan on doing ALOT of cutting. Mostly smaller trees to clear out the 5 acres a little more . Ive only owned a Craftsman and Im not to happy with it.

Had a cool not cold front come through here today. supposed to in the upper 40's tomorrow night. As for the chain saw I would say a husquavarna (sp?) would be the best bet. You can get one of the smaller ones for around 179 bucks and they have plenty of power to do the job.

The one I have is a poulan wildthing I bought at Wallyworld about 4 years ago and for the $129 I spent I have no complaints. Echo is the best I have ever used. Be sure to use Stabil fuel stabilizer in the gas. I use it in all my mowers, boat motor everything.

Ouch man what a day to tackle a job like that.
I would go for the Husqy. They have been building proven and rugged saws, motorcycles and other stuff for decades. I have run some of their saws and owned some of their bikes and they are a manufature I respect.

For those of yall that don't know the area and allt hat, where gulf's farm is at is in the hottest part of the southeast. You are too far inland for any costal cooling and too low for any reliefe from elevation like the piedmont areas of Ga. and Al. The humidity and the gnats are brutal. Over 100 is normal, dewpoints up in the 60s and 70s are also the norm.
Man I am still shaking my head over that tree. I was plumbing in hot buildings and I sure wouldn't want to be doing no pulp wooding out in the sun.

When I,m sitting in one of my stands in a few weeks it will all be worth it. Hope it does cool down though before I spend 2 days on a tractor next week.
