I live in Northeast Texas and have real sandy soil but want to plant some food plots but need help to figure out what would be the best thing or things to plant can anyone help me out here? Plus what is the best time to plant for a winter plot here as well?

Check with local conservation officer, feed & seed store, &/or county extension agent. They should have some real good sugestions to get you started.

All good ideas Deergrower. Your local feed store or county extension agent can also point you in the right direction for getting a soil test.
Where are you in NE Texas?

I'm in McKinney, but I went to school in Longview, Pine Tree to be specific. Graduated in '85. I moved to Austin from there and then to the metromess in '96.
Got real tired of the rush and moved to McKinney, but I read the other day that McKinney is the fastest growing area in the US with a population over 50K. It was about 30K when I moved there and we lived out of town. Now we've been incorporated.
