A true bear tale.

First off let me start by saying that the black bear population has really grew here in East KY the last few years. I've never actually saw one but I have saw tracks and other sign, so I know they're around.
A guy actually shot and killed one last year because he felt it was a "threat" to his family...I dont really know about that but it was settled in court.
Now here's my story according to my mom's first cousin.
She said last Friday evening about 11:30 she heard something or someone on her back porch. Thinking it was someone trying to break in she turned on the porch light and looked out the window only to see a huge bear looking back at her.
Now these people live approx. 20 miles from here and they see bear all the time, they even have some on video.
Anyways she had a deep freezer on her back porch and the bear got into it and according to her it ate everything but a bag of frozen beans. ;D
She called her brother to come and try to run it off....I really dont know how far he lives from her but when he got there it was coming of the porch and he said it was no doubt the biggest black bear he had ever saw.
Est weight 800 pounds....Now thats a big bear but after almost coming face to face with one, I'll give him the benifit of the doubt.
The next day I guess she bought some more stuff for the freezer and secured it with a hasp and pad lock.
4:30 the next morning.......She hears a lound noise on the back porch. It's the bear trying to tear the lock off the freezer.
She said after it slapped the lock around for awhile it eventually turned the freezer over and left.
I guess some people have all the luck.

that'd be a bit too close for comfort for me...i would have been puttin' that bear in the big freezer. ;D

Dammitson I don't want no bear trying to get to my meat. I would have to permanently discourage him from coming back.

This story was just relayed to me an hour ago:

My bud was riding a trail coming off the east end of Swan Lake.The grade was steep and the trail went straight up and straight down on the sides.He came up on a landing and surprized a two year old black bear on the quad trail.The bear had nowhere to run but up the trail.Ron said he gunned the gas and came within two feet of the bears butt,and was going to give him a boost in the butt.The bear sensing iminent danger let his bowels go,I guess to lighten the load ;D.Ron said Sh!t was flying every where and that bear was bawling like a baby.Finally he hit a spot where he(the bear) could bail off the trail and was gone in two seconds.

I'd have paid money to see that ;D.

Blue that story reminds me of the old margine commercial that ends "It's not nice to fool mother nature." or in this case to fool with mother nature.
Ask your buddy for me how bear poop tastes?
