here is one for ya. this was just in last weeks paper. a group of buddies/family members were out coyote hunting. as they were leaving the field, they notice one of the guys appears to be having trouble with his truck, so the guy's brother goes over to see what is up. he gets there and sees his brother has caught a stray bullet in the head, and is slumped over the steering wheel, dead. these were good guys, avid hunters, just one hell of a bad accident. the community is torn, all of the guys guns are being checked and the one who fired the fatefull bullet will most likely be known. many of the community don't want to know. it was an accident. the DA doesn't know if charges will be filed. the hunting group has discussed it, and they believe they have it narrowed down to one of two guys it could have been. one of them is sure it was him.
so, if it was you, and your brother, cousins, buddies out chasing coyotes, deer, whatever....what would you do?
i don't know if i would want to know wich guy did it. i just can't put myself in that position. i am pretty sure, if i walked up to my little brother's truck, and found him slumped over the wheel, dead.......i would probably put the guns down. i'm don't know if i would pick them up again or not. maybe a ways down the road...just don't know

no matter who it was that pulled the trigger it wouldn't matter because the first rule of huntin' is SAFETY.....you should identify your target and BEYOND!!! it sucks that it happened but someone should be held accountable.

It is sad, but it happens every year. I feel bad that stuff like this happens but there's really no excuse for it.

The story states that 3 of them shot from the "ROAD". Duhhh... illegal in any state I've been to. This is a prime example why, you just can't see what's in the woods or over the hill or anything.

A tragic accident for sure. Its not always possible to see another hunter beyond your target especially when you are on the ground. Shooting a rifle from the ground is especially dangerous. Miss your target and that bullet could travel a few hundred more yards until it hits something to stop it (brush or even another hunter standing just inside the woods.) How about squirrel hunting with a .22. Miss that squirrel and the bullet could travel a mile before coming back to earth. What happens when some unlucky person happens to be standing at that exact spot..?

I was walking down an elevated railroad track one time with my brother to get on watch. We're a couple hundred yards behind some houses. As we're walking we hear a couple spaced out shots but didn't think a lot about it. We paused to see if someone might run a deer our way from the road with the shooting. NOTHING. So we keep walking... SNAP...BANG and stones fly off the railroad bed about 5 yards in front of us. We hit the deck and yelled like heck. NOthing.... After a couple minutes we stand up to continue our walk to get on watch... SNAP.... BANG.... stones fly up about 10 feet in front of us. We bail over the side of the railroad bed screaming and yelling. We fire a couple shots and scream somemore. When we figured it was safe we came out to see what was going on. This guy had stuck a target up on his back lot that was dead in line with the railroad. His backstop was a cardboard box.
