So I woke up to about 6 inches of white stuff this AM. Beautiful outside. I decided it was time to do some sneaking and peaking in the woods. I put on my snow flage and snow mask and went sneaking down this one little finger that is never more than 100 yards wide. It narrows down all the way to a point. The wind was perfect. Slip down one side a few yards inside the woods and see what ya' see. I had only covered about 100 yards when I stumbled right on top of this one little fawn that was covered in snow under a bush. She lit out over the hill and down toward the point. I figured she'd take everything with her. When I got about 200 yards from the end I caught a glimpse of a couple deer moving about 75 yards ahead of me. I moved towards the center of the patch and I just stayed put for about 15 minuts. After a while I pushed quietly towards the point. When I got about 150 yards from the end I saw them nervously sneaking back up along the edge coming back up the hill. They kept looking where they figured I'd be I guess. The woods is only 75 yards wide at this point. So I stood there behind a tree as they passed 15 yards away. I raised the bow to shoot the biggest one and then decided I didn't want to drag that deer back up the hill the 600 yards to the truck. If there had been a nice buck I would have done it... but I let her off the hook. After they passed I eased over to where they had been coming up the side of the woods. One lone track broke off and went out across the field. Probably was HIM... oh well, it was fun.
