i just got my jacket from bass pro shop.it is called [redhead mountain stalker series].it said when i read the info that it was water repellent, insulated. after looking at it i took some water and poured on the hood. it absorbed it into the mossy oak new break up. am, i going to have a wet coat if it rains? can you put on the water repellent spray without cause the clothes to have a odor that will spook the deer? am i worrying to much? how can i test this to see if i will get wet?it said [water repellent] in the catalog, thanks

water repellent and waterproof are two different things. Anything that will let water soak in gradually is water repellent, anything that will not allow water thru at all is water proof.
Tip from Uncle Tony: Don't wear that coat in the rain, you WILL get wet.

You can use the sprays and they might work they lose the smell after a few days sitting their. I also seen on roger raglins show that their is a new stuff you dip your clothes in and throw them in the drier and it makes them waterprrof for like ten washing wish I could remember that name it will come to me it always does!

I sort of have the same problem as you Commanche. I am 6'6 and I have trouble with the differences between xl and 2xl. I try to go to an outdoor store so I can try stuff on. Hopefully they will take it back and replace it with the correct size.

your coat will do fine if it is just a light rain for a short while.
I have some rain gear I keep in the truck with me but I rarely use it unless it is raining when I leave the truck. Otherwise, I just deal with getting wet

If it's not too cold out side, I don't mind getting wet. When it get's chilly out, I have an issue rain gear pants and top that I wear. If it's a light sleet or snow, I wear my insulated overalls and my issue poncho and poncho liner.

Try this: www.oversizeoutfitters.com/William "The Fridge" Perry is their model. ;D If they can fit him, they can fit anybody. I use a poncho in the rain. I got it through Sportsman's Guide (http://www.sportsmansguide.com). It's a military surplus item in Alpenflage (WX2-51831). Costs about $15. It allows me to dress according to the temperature underneath. I use Camp Dry on my jackets, coats, & pop-up blind. Works excellent in light rain for short periods of time (1-2 hours). Dries odor free in 24 hours.

i saw that camp dry spray at the wal mart here.it says on the can[odor free in 24 hrs] many are using it here on their camo clothing to water .i used it on my boat cover and it did not leak for a year.i bet it will work on our clothes. i was worried about the smell but i put it on my boots and cant smell it after a few days.i am going to spray my whole camo suit as it is only water resilent.i am glad someone tried it out, should work good. i still cant find that water stuff you put in your washer to do the smane thing.
