I'll try a combination of both during the rut......Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't.
I do believe that several (no all) of the "doe in heat' lures can be very effective during the rut.

Ive had luck with grunts and bleats. As far as lures go Ive had my best luck with Paula and Boyd's used as a cover.

I've tried both with no sucess. Me too. I use them but don't really know if they work for me. The doe I shot 3 years ago was down wind 15 yards away and I was smoking a cigerette and she never thought about running. Then when I use a lure and or scent cover, I never see an animal.

I don't use calls for deer but I do drag an estrus scent and watch my back trail. This has worked twice for me in the last 3 seasons.
The only calling I do is for elk and that is mostly cow calls.
