I'm reading in the local hunting magazine and it's been confirmed by others I've spoken to, that the 2009-2010 Georgia deer season was one of the worst we've had in recent memory.
I'm a Georgia native and have been deer hunting in Georgia since 1972 and I have to agree with the assessments about the year being a bad one.
I killed 2 doe with my bow and another doe with my rifle, but the number of deer I saw and the number of deer I saw killed and even the quality of those deer seemed to be way down from what I've been used too.
We had a big deer die off in the early 1980's from Lyme disease ticks and this year seems to even rival those years we waited for the herd to build back up.
Any Georgia hunters here have an opinion?
Other states are welcome to add their comments too.

Yea Georgias overall deer kill numbers are down big time from what I have seen and heard. At the same time there seems to be a good number of quality deer being taken.

We had a bad season at my club. We only killed 144 with the hounds this year. We killed 238 last year. The still hunters at our club (I don't still hunt anymore) had a pretty bad season as well. The big buck was only 138 B&C. I just thought we had a crappy year because of all the logging that was going on all over the club this year.

I had a pretty bad year myself. Only killed 3 and probably did not see 12 all year.

well i hunt fl most of the time every few years i will get a ga. lisens and hunt there. but the part of fla i am in is so close to ga. i figuer the deer dont kn ow where there at. it was a bad year here. the sitings were way down and oure kill numbers were the lowes i rember in 20 years or so.
the bigest problem here is land delvement and road kills and the coytes are showing up in grater numbers.
