Just go ahead and crown myself the 2009 Spring turkey contest winner. ;D t-roy done a little hit and run smack talkin' on the sign up thread, but it remains to be seen if he can back it up.

LOL, sure. I hadn't noticed t-roy's post. That is exactly why I don't pay any attention to weight...too many variables. Also, even the beard really gets wore down here in the mtns. with all the rocks. SPURS is where it truly tells the story.

I disagree somewhat t-storm. Here in the ozarks, the spurs get wore down because of the rocks. I killed a 11/1/2" 26lb bird several years back. The GW estimated him at 4 years old. He had 5/8" spurs. I killed a 2 year old bird in S Arkansas (swamplands) that had over 1" spurs.

The spurs get worn here too, but I still pay more attention to them than the beard. Although, when I hunt Lake Cumberland instead of the mtns here at home, you can run into some dandy beards. My best 12 & 1/2" thin beard and a thick triple beard 11 1/2" (can't remember the shorter 2) came from the Lake.
