I could hear Elvis bayed up solidly deep into the 10' tall thicket a hundred yards ahead of me. As I fought my way into it, trying desperately to get to my dog, I could hear terrible noises of a fight. The palmettos and trees were being crushed, the ground was shaking, and I hear the distinct grunts and growls of a big boar on the attack. Fearing for my dog that was trying to hold the hog at bay and survive the encounter, I fought my way on to him. As I neared the terrible fight, I expected the worse. I still could not see either animal. Finally when I was within feet of the animals I parted the palmettos and snapped a picture of the big red boar and poor old Elvis. The big hog had Elvis backed up and trapped in the palmettos with no way out and was ready to put and end to the life of the dog that pursued him. See photo. Dave1

The big boar charged the dog, then turned and disappeared into the hades of hell. The dog, exhausted from four continuous days of before daylight to dark hunting, tried to follow but he was dead on his feet and we called it a week.
It has been two weeks since that hunt. Dogs finally recovered and we are ready to start another hunt this Friday.

Hi FLH I never did understand the red-x problem. I see it occasionally also. I resized the pic down about 50% from original size, then uploaded it to Hunt101, then posted it here. Here is the link at Hunt101, go to it and see if you can view the Elvis/Red Boar photo there. www.hunt101.com/img/091792.jpgI think we have permits worked out and am planning on starting the second Toso hunt Friday morning. I will be at the check station with Elvis and other dogs at 5:00am Friday - Sunday mornings. Maybe we'll see you out there. Usually drag azz out of there, tired and wore out, around 4:00 or 5:00pm or so. Holler or wave if you see me. I'll be in my redneck Cadilac (Brown/Creme colored 3/4 ton GMC 4WD hunting truck with dog box in the back, whip antenna, etc.) Dave1

We may not need the permit now, but not sure yet. Sunday will be my last day out there.
I have a couple of buds that will be dog hunting on thru the week if you want to hook up with them. I'm sure they would enjoy your company.
I'll look out for you.
