Keep a couple of emergency road flares in a zip lock bag with you in case you get wet. I keep the 15 minute flares and when I use them, they'll start a wet wood fire in a New York Minute! No matches or lighter required.
This has saved my butt a couple of times.

Where do you get them? I haven't seen one of those things in years. I never thought about starting a fire with one that's a pretty slick trick.

He is telling the truth too. They will start ANY fire. We use them for jump starting bonfires in the rain.
