That's right my little buddy Max is not going to be a hunter no matter what I do. He has in a weeks time grown immune to the electronic collar. I don't know what else to do at this point. I have spent way too many hours trying to train him as it is. So he will be leaving us. Anybody here that wants him can come get him for free. He comes from good stock and several of his siblings have become pretty good quail dogs from what I have heard. He is registered and I can tell you his mama was a helluva dog before she turned against the gun.
I will be getting a Labrador Retriever to take his place. I need a dog for waterfowl and dove more than I do for quail anymore anyway.
I has him listed in the local"Iwanta" classified ads paper for $100.

Too bad he couldn't come around. It's got to be tough to put that much time and effort into a dog that won't work for you.

I really love the little guy too. He has more personality than any other dog I've ever owned. But my wife won't let me keep more than one dog at a time.

Hate to hear that but it happens sometimes, we used to get a hounds that for one reason or the other refused to run deer, or they would start on deer then wind up chasing coons. You won't regret getting a lab, I won't one so bad I can't stand it but like you the wife thinks one dog is enough.

My little buddy left here yesterday. It was kinda sad too. He was a good sport though. He took right to the fella that took him. I walked him to the mans SUV and told him to "load up!" and he jumped right in and got in the kennel and sat down just like he is supposed to. I told him "good boy" and gave him one last scratch under the collar and off he went. I'm gonna miss him some but I ain't gonna miss the hiking on everything and the hard headedness.

Sorry SH, always tough losing a friend, I had a Choclate Lab named Sam, heckuva drive but diddly squat for a drug dog which is what I was training him for, he would, look at the dope, look at me, look at the dope, look at me, etc. We went thru this for a about 4 weeks and the Dep helping me finally decided that he was not narcotics dog material, so I got a female black lab now named TROUBLE, sho nuff that is Occifer TROUBLE now in the annals of the State of Georgia!!
