which one would you get for pheasant and grouse hunting and also to shoot some clay birds once in awhile? also what gauge,20 or 12 gauge.our mountains are ruff here in pa. for grouse. a heavy gun is no good here,so weight is important to me to.i also dont like a lot of recoil.thanks

I like em both. I don't have either one though.
Stevens has re-introduced a FINE looking SxS that is very affordable. I really want to buy one.

I have a trusty old Stevens bolt action 20ga that is light and fun to use. The clip that came with it was lost long ago but it is still a great gun to shoot with little recoil.

I like both O/U and S/S and have both in 20 and 12ga.I just aquired a sweet Stevens 311 in 12ga and it's an awesome shotgun.

This may sound goofy but get the one that feels most comfortable to you and you can shoot the best. I had an over and under and never did adjust to the gun. It's a fact that certain guns fit certain shooters better than others. Is there a range anywhere near you where you can try out the two different guns and a get a feel for which one you like better?
As far as the gauge goes I'm sure you can use a 200 on those birds it's just a matter of picking the right load. Blue Norther hunts them birds he can tell us for sure.

Bro,
Savage/Stevens makes a fine gun for the money. They are notorious for it. Kinda like Ruger used to be. I'll gaurantee you that the 411 will be one of the finest guns in your safe.
BTW, I want one real bad too.

I hunt upland birds with a Browning Citori. Ducks and turkey have a different gun altogether

Browning Citori for most ever thing but I did buy one of the Stoeger 2000 in Max-4 this past season and have been impressed with it so far, I don't shoot enuff 3 1/2 for me to worry about gettin a gun for that, though I just lucked into a deal in AL for a Citori Satin Hunter that is capable of shooting 3 1/2.
