All right ducks come back in tomorrow in GA, where is everybody going? I'll be on the Gum Pond at my club waiting for the woodies and any other fowl that come in. I've been seeing a lot geese the past few mornings. Maybe I'll get a chance to send Maggie after her first duck.

I didn't go to the Gum Pond after all. A boy at the club asked me to go swamp he scouted yesterday and saw about 300 woodies. Well we didn't see no 300 ducks but I did shoot one down. Maggie didn't do to well though. When the first group of ducks came through the first man shot and off she went to get his duck. Well I shot mine down while she was working her way back to me and she didn't see it go down. I sent her out into the water after mine which was still flapping a little. She looked and looked and couldn't find it so I called her back to wait until the next group. After we decided the hunt was over I sent her in again and she swam all around the limb the duck was under and couldn't find it. Of course I was in my rubber boots and not my waders(I figured I had my dog I wouldn't need to go in too deep.) I went in the water to put her on the bird so she could at least get a chance to do a retrieve. It only took three steps before I was in water up to my tallywacker. I led her to the bird and she would not grab it. She tried, bless her heart, but she don't like them feathers in her mouth. Oh yeah did I mention that water was cold this morning? I haven't had to dump the water out of my boots jsut to get in the truck in years. Oh well I have a bird in the freezer to mount for the shoppe. How did you do Biggie?

Just walked in the door. I shot 2 mallards and a gray duck. Hunting might have been alot better had I brought my duck calls. I'm going to give the spot another go tomarrow am with my calls. Shorthair, I've learned the hard way unless your in a boat ALWAYS bring chest wadders. Theres always gonna be that one tiem the dog will not retrive and you end up freezing your boys off.
