I know it's still in the talking stages right now, but what do y'all think?
I've wondered if the time might be coming for NASA to step back and let private enterprise take over.
I'm thinking that satellites would still be sent up even if NASA weren't around.

What possible reason would we have to go back to the moon? If the government has a few billion dollars sitting around to blow send it to me. I just can't justify in my mind spending the kind of money it takes to go back up there.

It seems like an insane waste of money, given the war spending and the fact that the economy just now seems to be coming around.
Politically speaking, I don't think it's even a good time For GWB to be talking about it.
I heard one of the talking heads say that it "could inspire kids" to pursue careers in science. Can't you do that with a model rocket or a chemistry set?

I heard they were taking of building a space station there. To do what? We have the international space station we are spending gobs of money on with the express purpose of pursuing new uses for 0 gravity work. I really had to laugh the other day when I heard that Bush was going to make this annoucement sometime in January.
