Ethics are a matter of opinion. To a member of PeTA, 'ethical hunting' is an oxymoron. In years past, killing hundreds of buffalo for their hides only was perfectly ethical. Hunting using dogs is considered unethical to some while they may readily participate in deer drives. In some areas killing does is a cardinal sin while in other areas NOT killing them is unethical. To some, taking young children hunting would be unthinkable ("what damage to their young minds"). Many people think, the sooner the better. Some vehomently oppose baiting. While others see no difference between baiting & food plots.
Many also confuse 'legal' and 'ethical'. In many cases, the game laws are set up to enforce ethical hunting. In other cases, it is a matter of logistics (season length, bag limits, shooting times). Again, what was perfectly legal in the past (see buffalos above) is not legal now.
Just a few observations.-Bil

If it's legal it should be ethical. "Should be" that is. There may methods used in your state that you feel are not ethical. I personally think that the laws should reflect what is ethical to people in your area.
I see the term ethical thrown about too much these days in the hunting community. If it is legal then it is ethical as far as the majority are concerned. I would love to see the term sporting replace the word ethical in hunting circles. I think you can be a legal hunter and not be sporting. Shooting 20 dove when the limit is 12 is illegal and unsportsmanlike. Shooting 12 dove on the ground is legal it ain't sporting worth a darn but it is legal.
If you have legal practices in your state that you feel are unethical than it's time to consider changing the laws to reflect ethical/sporting hunting.

Seems to me ethics and shootin holes in animals just don't fit. I just try to do what I know is right when it comes to the animals.
