Dammitson I love the sound of a pack of dogs runnning a deer. I don't own any because I own birddogs and my whipping boss won't let me have that many dogs at once. My brother-in-law has beagles and the guys at our club have everything from 13" beagles to 15" beagles to Walkers, to Blueticks, to Redbones, to Black and Tans. The only thing I love better than a good race is a German Shorthair on point.

I hunt walkers now but have had all the dogs you listed at one time or another.I have been wanting a bluetick but the feed bill keeps going up with the walkers I have.A bluetick with a bawl mouth really sounds good in a hot race..

I miss the days of hearing a good race, grew up thinking that was how everyone hunted deer. Its a dying art in these parts due to loss of suitable land. My dad loved it more than anything. He proposed to my mom over the phone while he was overseas and told her he was coming home "to go deer hunting and get married, in that order." We had one more hunt planned for this year with a friend of mine at his club but unfortunatly Dad didn't make it to hunting season.

I joined a club last year that runs dogs. I split my time between dog & still hunting. My kids love dog hunting because they can talk & move around some.

I remember yrs ago being on a stand, listening to the dogs running , getting closer and closer to me, hearing the deer coming straight to me heart jumping up in my mouth, pushing the safty off slowly bring the gun up, deer jumps out to my left stands in the old loging road looks at me , Bang Bang shot over him under him, missed the crap out of him, man on the next stand killed him a very good 10 piont, I ws sick for days on that 1, LOL

That would have cost you 2 bucks at our club. It's a dollar a miss when we're running the dogs.

Wow I didnt know this many people ran dogs on here but thats just awsome. I grew up running dogs and hunting with dogs. Shorthair you remind me of my dad already, the only thing he likes better than running deer with dogs is birdhunting with a pointer. For me deer hunting with dogs is the best thing there ever was. I love listening to a good pack of hounds hammering on the trail. We dont have any dogs of our own but we hunt with several different clubs that do. Im looking to get in a club in Weeksville NC cus I know so many people over there and they got some big ones to. Yall takemeasy and have a goodun.-tim
