Welcome to the SHF. Glad to have you with us.
I bought a MIni-14 in 1986 and I still have it. I could not possible guess at how many rounds have been through it or how many animals I brought home with it. The basic operation is just like the Garand or M14 and it is flawless. In all the time I've owned it, it have never jammed or malfunction once. I'ts like a motor. However, it's not gonna shoot sub-MOA with or without a scope.
Now, Ruger introduced a new Mini in 2007 that is designed to shoot MOA. It has a hormonic dampener on the end of the barrel and is set up to be a target rifle.
If you are thinking about getting one, GET IT. It was one of the best gun buys I ever made and it is one of the few guns I have that I will never trade or sell. I even thought about buying another one last year.
If you buy large cap mags for it, get good ones. Do not buy the cheap ones. They never work right....they are hard to get in and they won't stay in the well and they rust as soon as air hit them.
Dude, good luck and let us know what you end up doing.

Looks like you'll have to copy and paste that second site address but it'll take you to the pics.

I have a Mini 14 Ranch with the Stainless barrel that was my dads before he died. Couldn't tell you how may rounds have been shot through it but like H4F said its never jambed or misfired once. I got it out of the safe a couple of weeks ago, put a new scope on it since the old scope had fogged up last year, and when I tried to sight it in could not hit anything with it. At 25yrds it was fine but when I backed out to 100yrds I was lucky to put the shot on a 2ftx2ft target and this was shooting from a bench. I'm gonna clean it good and see if that helps.
