Merry Christmas folks! I may have a deal on a .270 Thompson Encore rifle, which would include the muzzle loader barrel as well.
I would be interested in what y'all think of them. I have heard both good and bad.
Single shot is not an issue with me.
Thanks for any words of wisdom or advice!

I dont think you can get a better muzzleloader. I have several friends that have them, all are tack drivers. I really like being able to get multiple barrels for the same gun. If the gun fits you well, there no limit as to what you can use it for.

I had a Thompson Contender many years ago. I still can't believe I sold it. I'd buy it if I were you.

Well gentlemen - I bought it, and here's what I got:
TC Encore with 270 Rifle barrel (blued) 24 in, with the TC 3-9X 40 scope; 209X50 Cal muzzle loader barrel (blued) with open sights; synthetic stock and fore arms for both barrels, walnut stock and fore arms for both barrels, sling, case.
Price? $750. Less than 2 boxes of rounds through the rifle barrel and less than 50 rounds through the muzzle loader.
The guy gave me 3 270 rounds to try it out. My husband shot the first one, and I shot the other two. All three rounds would fit under a dime. I'd never seen anything like that.
I've never hunted with a muzzle loader, but I can't wait!
So, thanks for all the advice!!!! ;D
