All right fellas I want to get a new "security system" for my store. I needs to a semi-auto in either .40 S&W or .45 ACP. I really like the the Kimber 1911 or I especially like the new Sig 1911 but I'm wide open and not afraid to add another Taurus to the family. I always said I would get the Glock compact .45 for a concealed carry weapon but I have shopped for a pistol in ten years.

well I guess you just need to know how secure you want to be and how much you're willing to pay.
for the Money, a Springfield 1911-A1 Mil-Spec would make a great "static" security system for a store front- although maybe a little bulky for a carry piece (as is any full-size 1911 frame). I picked up one of these little gems 4 months ago, and I'm real happy with it. Very reliable and much more accurate than the $399 I paid for it would have you believe.
If it's gonna be a full CCW piece, a smaller framed .40 is probably a better choice. But unless you REALLY want to pay a premium price for a target gun like a Kimber - there are a lot of options for less expensive pistols that will serve well as a CCW piece.

Lots of good product out there without breakin the bank.
Llama Maxi-.45, Taurus makes a slew of carry revolvers from .357 to .45 LC including a .44 SPL all for less that $400.
I got my last gun from a pawn shop for $200. A Taurus M66 in .357. Best gun value in my safe.

If we lived closer I would give you one for free. I have a CZ 52 semi auto that cant hit the broadside of a barn past 15 ft. but it'll sure scare the crap out of them. .45 S&W is a good choice. Personally I'd use the ol Dirty Harry long barreled .44 mag. You wouldnt have to shoot them. They'd slip on their own crap trying run away.

I'm gonna go with the Glock 30. It's the .45 ACP compact with a 10 round clip. I had Glock 17(9mm) back in 89 and I hated the fact that it had no traditional safety. But now I want something that when I pull it out it is ready rock, like a revolver but with more horse power and capicity. Now I just need to get the American Sportsman to open before 10:00am so I can buy the the gun and open the store.
