Yesterday I took apart my winchester semi auto .22 and i cannot get the spring which controlles the action back into place. It seem that it is just to big for the little area that it is suppose to fit into. I've spent a great deal of time trying to compress it enough to fit into the stock and into the hole on what i guess is the bolt (the thing that slides back and forth when fired). There must be a trick or technique to it. Any tips tricks or suggestions on how to put it back together?? or should i take it to my gunsmith

Thanks Hunt for fun but I got fed up with it and called my gun smith and he talked me through it over the phone. The trick was that u need one finger to guide the spring in and then using brute finger strength force it the rest of the way and hold it there with a screw driver while u put the other pieces in place. It still took about 3 tries.
