I finally caught a decent sized walleye. I havent really targeted them much, but this year I am giving it more effort. I have caught more walleye this year than the last 20 years combined. This one is 23 1/2" long. Mighty tasty fish.  |

What bait?
The Walleye bite in Erie's western basin has been hot this year.
The bite started in December(we had open water fishing most of the winter)) of last year and never slowed down.
Good Luck with your Walleye fishin'. thats a nice lookin' walleye.

Seneca, I got that one on a harness. White and pine beads, and white blades have done well for me in the evenings. My other hot harness has been blue beads with white blades.
I wish I was down your way for the walleye fishing. Sounds like everyone is having a banner year this year.

We 've got them here,but I don't target them.My wifes cousin catches them up to 10 pounds in southern Alberta.

Yep, Erie is putting out a lot of eyes this year. We are getting a bunch of 16 to 20 inch fish and a few up in the high 20's. Pretty much catching them trolling Reef Runners, Hot 'N Tots and a few on Bomber Long A's with Dipsy Divers and Jet Divers.
If we find that the eyes are schooled and on the reefs it's slip bobbers and Leeches.
Old goofy me picked this year to get back into Musky fishing, think I have been on Erie only a ten or so times this spring and summer.
The weather is killing me. Thunder storm after thunder storm, every weekend.
And this week we were put on six days a week at work. I'm thinking the ol' Muskies will have to wait till fall.
About two and a half years and I'll be fishing for a living, they can take this job and shove it.
Blue --- Love it when the eyes get ten or more. Your wifes couson is doing something right.
