What is Sucker Day?
"It all started one spring over forty years ago with three or four Missouri men playing hooky from work to go 'grabbing'. Soon women were leaving household chores, children were skipping school, and shop owners were closing their doors...all for the love of a fish loathed by almost everyone else.
Now, on Sucker Day (actually a two-day celebration) in Nixa, Missouri, school closes officially and the little town swells to a throng of 15,000 hungry folks all craving the taste of the much maligned but delicious bottom dweller.
For a few weeks before Sucker Day, local fishermen 'grab' spawning suckers in preparation for the big event, which features a parade, music, carnival rides, and one gigantic fish fry. Grabbing involves sighting a sucker, then snagging it with a treble hook."

Around here carp and suckers are two different fish. I know they have another name Maybe red horse or something like that. I'm just not sure. The mouth is similar to a carp but they're more silver in color and dont get nearly as big.

We have white suckers here. They usually end up on the bank for raven food.Bout the only people I see keep them are the orientals.
A suckers mouth is right under its head where as a carps mouth isn't.

I went out Carp fishing the other day caught two.Use to have people pay to fish for Carp, cost so much for a 20 pound Ticket, then so much a pound for every pound over.
Buffalo and Suckers are better eating than Carp.We also eat Drum and Gar.
