they stocked a local lake here with trout last week, went yesterday and caught a small rainbow, today we went and was doing no good and i put on a 2inch white grub and first cast nailed a dandy trout, i think it was a brown trout i aint for sure, im not a trout fisherman, it was 18inches long (now in 4inch strips in the refridgerator lol) and real fat, i dont know how to size a trout it was just alot bigger then the rainbows and golden trout we catch outta there, i guess it was an old brood trout.

Nice trout bud! If it was a brown it should have red dots with a blueish halo around them and have a yellowish golden overall color. The tail should be what they call square, not so forked as a rainbow.

Great fish either way. I like the meat on the brown trout better.
Parks & Wildlife stocks little park ponds around here with rainbows in the winter. I used to could catch them, but I'm pretty sure they're breeding them smarter now.

Im not sure what it was, i was brown, with black dots, no way it was a rainbow, had an almost beak sort of snout on it, not at all like a rainbow

Sounds like a big male brown, they get a kipe jaw during the spawn.
