A close up of the perch. These have got to be the best eating fresh water fish bar none.I'll fillet them and then deep fry them in a beer batter.

Pretty fish too.
If you notice, they bare a striking resemblence to the peacock bass.....only smaller.

You pull a victor onto the ice down here and you will make the 5 o'clock news, gauranteed.

It was so cold we had to keep the beer on the stove just to keep it from freezing ;D H4F1,the ice was 13 to 14 inches thick. We're sitting on top of 21 feet of water there. Make the evening news there huh,LOL ;D.

Looks like a pretty good fishing trip bro. Keeping the beer from freezing, wow! We have those fish here. We call them yellow perch and some old timers call them government perch. They run good in the Savanah River in January and Febuary and we catch them with shiners.

Nice batch of Perch --- Yep, they are about the best eating fresh water fish, and somehow they taste even better when takin through the ice. Just starting to get some ice on the ponds and small lakes. It'll be another 3 or 4 weeks until good ice. Need some nightime temps in the - 10's to get thing a going. BTW Yellow Perch are selling for $10.99 a Lb. in the local fish market.
