Got out on the ice last sunday after we cut Christmas trees. That's Larry with a yellow perch, only one we caught that day.We only got to fish for an hour and a half then the sun was setting and it started to get cold fast.

Getting the holes drilled and the rods rigged. The ice was only a foot thick so didn't take long to auger the holes. We use maggots for the perch and minnows for the pike that are in Burntstick Lake.

These are the kids on the quads. You couldn't wipe the smiles off'n their faces ;D.I'll bet they burned a half tank of fuel in them bikes. We weren't sure as to how thick the ice was so I didn't drive the truck out onto the lake.We just used the kids to ferry gear from the truck to where we were fishing, didn't have to twist their arms too hard . I'm hoping to get out next weekend and then some more over the holidays.I'm temporarily laid off till the new year starting the end of next week.

That looks like too much fun. I'd like to give ice fishing a try one of these days.

Dude where are the little fishing huts to keep the wind off of you? I could fish like that but I want one of those fishing huts like they had in Grumpy Old Men.

We don't use the shanties here in the west, more of an eastern thing on the big lakes. However an ice fishing tent is nice when the wind picks up.
In all truthfulness I'm a fair weather ice fisher, don't care for the cold myself.Last year we were fishing on the ice in our shirt sleeves a couple of times.
