I think my lab has turned into a coyote dog

I decided to go run this cornfield by my house tonite. So I called up a couple of my buddies and we loaded up my 2 hounds along with his and got ready to go. As i was leaving the house the wife ask if i was taking gunner with ( my choc. lab ) because he was whining and wanting to go, so he got to come along ( I can't go anywhere without him). We got to the field and free casted the hounds in ( gunner stayed in the truck). About 10 min's later they had one jumped. After about an hour of listening to that beautiful music those hounds play the yote came to the road and cross it, into the ditch of the other side, ran down about a 100 yards, and ran into a big culvert that lead from one side of the road to the other, and headed back into the corn ( I thought that was pretty for the yote to do that, and try to avid the hounds). The race lasted another ten min's until he came to the road a second time to where my july hound caught up to him and the fight started and the excitement started. Know I don't know what ever possess my lab to get into this fight but he did. Goose made it to the road and grabbed the yote by his butt and the growling started, all of a sudden my lab jump out of the rolled down window and turned on the after burning to get to this fight. It was like somebody flipped a switch in him because he came totally uncorked on this coyote . Gunner grabbed the the yote by the neck after getting bite in the face and ears and just started pulling and dragging for what he was worth, my july hound had the same idea and his own direction he wanted to go with it. It wasn't very long before the other 2 hounds showed up to get a piece of the prize. Within a couple min's the yote was stretched. I have never seen this before out of my lab but he was proud as hell he was in this kill. He didn't suffer to many injuries, just a few bites on the face and ears, he'll survive. Just wanted to share the story and the crazy experience

Sounds like a hell'uv a hunt bro!

I remember the first time my German Wirehair hauled down his first song dog.We were huntin pheasant down in S.E. Alberta.I was workin some heavy grass when this yote come screamin out of the fringe with my wirehair on his ass!He caught him inside of a hundred yards and dispatched him in a short fight.I couldn't believe what I saw!At first I thought it was a young dog,but it was a mature one.Later that year he caught and killed another mature song dog.

Wow, man.....never hunted yotes with dogs. Sounds like fun.
The place that I hunt yote on is infested with them. The guy that owns the property has 2 big English Mastifs and I would love to see those dogs grab a yote. He has those dogs specifically to keep the yote off his yard which is fenced.

hunting coyotes with hounds is a blast theres nothing like it . all I can say is that it's a action packed, adreniline raising goodtime. I will set the scene for you. It is a cool december morning after a fresh snow the night before. Your driving around checking the road ditch'es for some fresh tracks when all of a suuden your radio fire's up,( radios are legal to use ) one of the other guys in the group has one spotted running across another field. So you kicker down and get over there to get the hounds on the tracks. BAM the hounds are on the tracks running for what there worth to catch the yote. You know and can see where they are headed so you drive aroung the next section. You grab your rifle or shotgun and take up a position where you think they might cross, the the dogs are starting to get close, you can hear there barks. The anticipation is the killer your sitting there just waiting hell you even start to sweat, the hounds are even closer know its sounds like they are right on top you, when there actually 150/200 yards out yet. Then you see the yote sneaking through the woods at a slow run just about to hit the fields edge, the gun comes up, you get him lined up in the crosshairs, you tell yourself when he hits the field he's dead meat. The moment of truth is here you squeez the triger and BOOM the yote turns and runs back from the way he just came from because you forgot to lead him. At a slow run the coyote is still moving at about 15 miles an hour. So know you see flames come out his butt because you shot at him and he's know moving anbout 30 miles an hour, so through some more rounds at him hoping you get lucky, but no luck. So you pack up, and head them off on the other side and wait to start it all over again. and this is a slow morning it only gets better as the day goes on. Yoteler
