Over all I like my Triple Threat friction call. It has an aluminum, plexiglass, and slate on one call. I can use all three surfaces in one calling sequence and it drives them nuts. I also like my Cody Slate call.

That's a hard choice. but I guess if I had to pick one, it would be my Lohman Thunderdome aluminum with my rosewood striker. and QB old boss hen mouth call.

Diaphrams, hard to choose. . . . the Knight and Hale Setbak, HS Struts Cuttin 2.5, or HS Struts Split VII. . . . i have a blade that i make modifications to the latex with so i can get it to sound like i want, but thats what i start out with. ;D

H.S. Strut Cuttin 2.5 is the only call I use. Been using it since they first came out and if they ever quit making them I am screwed.

I really like the Cuttin 2.5 too, but if you can find it (I've found them at Galyans) try the Knight and Hale "Setbak," it is an awesome call. The reeds are set back in the frame allowing you to control the rasp very effectively. You can get the yelps to start whiny and roll over to that raspy sound, just like an ole boss hen. ;D

If it's aluminum I like it. I seem to have better results with them than any of the other friction calls.

I took my 1st bird, in 1960, with a slate call and used nothing else for years, my "go-to" call is an Albert Paul butternut & walnut custom box. If I had to pick just 1 call to hunt with, it would be the box.

Right now I like K&H diaghrams. But I made several Neil Cost style long paddle box calls and am hopin they do the trick this year.

I like my slate call, then when they get a little closer I have one that straps on the stotgun barrel, but my slate is the best.
