1-1 ends it here. Ive blown my back up again, but am going to at least try to go Monday and Tuesday afternoon. This is the worst year Ive had killin wise in YEARS, but I've enjoyed it more than most. Hopefully I can avoid getting the rods put in my back for another year, and we can go back to Illinois again in the coming year.

I've still got time for a few more bow hunts, but it's doubtful if I'll go out. This has been a slim year for me too, but Ive kind of got the idea of what it's like to hunt a trophy class buck this year and have enjoyed that a whole lot.

I tried to hunt this AM, but my back was killing me when I woke up. Went and sat in the wind this afternoon. Saw a big tomcat and thats about it. I sat in a hog pen, Mike's brother-n-law's Collie came to visit me for a while. She wouldnt come through the door of the pen though. She laid at the door for a while looking at me.

It's done for me and I'm done. About 4:30 this afternoon I was ready to unload my shotgun and go back to the truck. The dogs struck across the road from me and I didn't know whether get excited or cry. I've hunted 10 out of the 13 Saturdays of our season and 8 of the 13 Wednesdays. When we hunt with the hounds I am there from before sun up until after sundown. I've lost count on how many times I've hauled of the guts to the gut hole. I've skinned my deer, Sarah's deer, dogmen's deer and several other guys in the group that had multiple kills. I had planned to go duck hunting tomorrow but f--- it I'm gonna cut up the last of the meat I have and clean up my truck. Then I'm going to a honey for ducks Thursday. And they are calling for sleet!!!

That's it for me. Some really good memories, some meat in the freezer, & some decissions before next deer season. Already looking forward to October. ;D

I'm glad it's over for now but y the time warm weather hits I'll be missing it for sure.

I'm done. Season ends 1/31 but I'm not going again. I plan to do some squirrel hunting on public land after the deer hunters are gone. I didn't want to ruin their hunting by shooting squirrels.I've got the old 39A sighted in dead on 50 yds. I had a good season.I killed 4 this yr. The freezer is stocked well.I made some of the best Italian sausage this yr from my last deer. I got 38 lbs from him without using the backstraps. I made bacon rapped fillets out of the backstraps. I doubt we buy much beef this yr. I like deer meat better anyway & my wife does too. I just need to get her hunting. I plan to buy a 243 or a 260 for my grandson & take him this next season. He is 12 now & finally showing some interest in hunting. He loves shooting but he just started showing interest in hunting. I'm taking himon my squirrel hunts to teach him the basics. There is nothing better than taking a kid hunting. The look on their faces after their first kill is priceless.
