This is a Florida 17 1/2" 7pt I took last year during the 2002 muzz week season. He came in while I was still on the ground preparing to climb into my stand. Actually I was in an awkward position with one arm up and half way into my Bug Tamer jacket and gun leaning against the tree 3 ft away. I glimpsed a movement coming thru the brush while putting the jacket on and froze with one arm up and the other behind my back while trying to get the jacket on. The buck that I had been hunting materialized before my eyes at 20 yards staring right at me. I stood motionless, not even blinking for about 15 minutes while he stared me up and down. After he finally figured I was just part of the scenery he turned and walked behind some palmettos, then unexpectedly, poked his head thru to stare at me again. Finally convinced I was a just bush or something, he turned to walk away. When he was behind some palmettos, in one swift motion I reached for the old side hammer gun, brought it up as he was clearing the brush, found his middle shoulder in the scope, and touched the trigger. When the smoke cleared the buck was nowhere to be seen but a good bloodtrail led to where he fell about 40 yards away.
