Hi All,
I had to split the post as it was to long to go in one post!
The shot was perfect and the only small down side that as he was not perfectly broadside the bullet exiting had broken his left fore leg which was now splayed out to the left, he was laying on his chest head up right with some grass still in his mouth:D talk out instant:eek Cliff said you Garalloch him and I will go back and bring the truck up nearer as it was now about 1 1/4 miles away from where we were and although he could not bring it right up he could get about 1/4 mile or so to us:D
So that was what happened except as I was performing the gralloch I had the entrails out and was working on getting what was left of one lung and the heart out when I looked up towards the farm buildings to my left and was shocked to see a better 4 point feeding about 45 yards away:eek he even stood and looked at me whilst I stood up and walked the 10 feet or so to pick my binos up to get an even better look at him:lol I finished the gralloch including taking out the throat and windpipe and then we tipped him over a couple of times to drain out the blood from the chest cavity and then Cliff produced a plastic bag for the liver and kidney and then we put the carcase into a Roe sack a special large leather rucksack to port him back to the truck picking up the tripod and my rifle on the way.
I washed my hands in the wet grass and finally cleaned them in a stream and wiped them dry on a towel from the truck. We then drove to another part of the estate to take a cpouple of pictures as I had left my camera in the truck as I didn't know how far we would have to stalk this morning, nor if it would rain!
The uneven Antlers.
After taking the pictures Cliff as it was only just after 08:00 cliff took me on a tour around the estate and we saw some Fallow in the distance at one pint another Roe Buck a small 6 pointer then we went back to my car for some sandwhiches and then somewhere we thought would be quite for a nap ready for the afternoons session.
At 14:00 we went down to a high seat as the wind was blowing harder now and rain threatened and this overlooked a sheltered spot at the edge of a refuge and ;large corn (Wheat) field, I never saw any Roe but we did see some Fallow and I got some nice pictures of a young Fallow Buck romping around, he was only a spike with the antlers just showing growing in velvet, we also watched the Spotted Woodpeckers, Pheasents, Partridge, Ducks and Rabbits:D but no Roe and no Foxes so no shots that evening.
Young Fallow Buck
Hope you like it, something different for you?
