:)At least body wise. On Thursday I shot a buck that weighed close to 180 lbs. It had a pretty nice rack but only 5 points. 3 on one side and just the main beam and brow tine on the other. 12 inches high with 15 inch spread. Old deer. Not too bad for a palmetto flatwoods buck. I climbed into my stand about an hour and a half before daylight. At daylight I had 2 does come in acting extremely nervous. It was obvious that they had been run all night. They would feed a little then stare off into the swamp for a couple minutes. Suddenly they became very jittery and headed back the way they came. One of the does snorted and both took off. I though at first they may have winded me but all of a sudden I could here a deer running from in the swamp. The deer jumped the Refuge fence and came straight towards me. This buck looked huge. At thirty yards he turned broadside and the 30-30 did its job. A half mile of dragging through the marsh and I had him back at the truck. I had to use my hand winch to get him into the back of the truck. Any volunteers to scan some pics for me? Special note for FL. Your not the only one who falls in swamps. While dragging the deer out i tripped on a cypress knee and fell face first in the muckiest, hog smelliest mudhole out there. Needless to say, that buck looked and smelled alot better than I did when I left the woods. (I did change clothes for the pictures though.)

Congratulations on the deer. Heckuva story.
Usually I'm just dodging the cow piles on my way out. I'd rather do that than drag swamps.
