Hot & windy. Met my dad & youngest brother at Dad's yesterday morning. We sat for about 7 hours total and saw nothing from the blind (between smoking/dipping breaks and constant conversation) but 5 deer overall. I saw a bunch on the way over there.
I loaned the gun to my brother who'll have more hunting time than I will until Thankgiving, so I just carried the binocs this morning and watched two young bucks fighting. First time I've seen that in person and it looked a lot like playing, but I walked up on it in progress and watched for another 20 minutes. They'd push back and forth and then take a break and then go back to pushing. Cool to see for the first time. I also saw a small bodied 6pt with horns past his ears. He'll make a real nice deer in a year or two.
Water was still standing in the field from a big storm last month and there were mallard, teal and wood ducks feeding everywhere. Those woodie drakes are sharp looking birds.
Also heard some gobbling about noon or so.

Mud, my inlaws place (where the bucks were fighting) in on the northeast edge. My dad's place in Lampasas is more into what is commonly called the hill country. The prettiest part of Texas as far as I'm concerned.
SH, I'll be taking the 12ga as soon as I bag a deer. I was scouting a spot to set up to catch them flying out.
