You often hear 'I only shoot what I eat'. So, do you not varmit hunt if you claim this? Coyote, armadillo, fox, prarie dogs, possums, etc. I know some people eat these, but most don't. So is it wrong to kill these varmits & not eat it?

Nuisance critters are fair game for me. A coyote don't have a prayer in my sights. They eat up my quail and I can't stand that. Armadillos and possums and such that don't cause me no pain can walk. I even let bobcats walk even thuogh will eat my quail. I don't why I just won't shoot 'em.

we got 22 coyotes this year. the only reason we kill them is they kill our fawn bucks here.all the others you mentioned we dont kill and most are protected.

The coyotes need to be controlled or they'll eat themselves out of house and home.

Don't shoot what I don't think will taste good. That's been good news for a lot of boar hogs..The only reason I don't shoot coyotes..is I don't want to fire a shot and mess up the spot I'm hunting from.

I shoot only what I eat......cept varmits. That's why that are called varmits and not "game animals". Texas has a hugh coyote problem and until recently a HUGH problem with rabid animals. If you see a yote, shoot him. Yotes will hit a baby calf in a heartbeat. If you see a skunk in the day light, he's probly not well, shoot him. Prairie dogs need to be controlled because of the vast amount of damage the do to land in a very short period of time. I mean, killin varmits ain't like what the fronteirsman did to the buffalo.

I don't eat everything I shoot.H4F1 is right,varmints are for shooting.
Now there are some farmers here who won't shoot coyotes because they are probably the best rodent control specialist there is,bar none. But they spread fast and become a nuisance to someone else.

At this point I only Shoot what I eat. Deer, squirrel and rabbit and I couldn't tell you how long its been since I've been squirrel hunting. We dont really have a coyote problem here in the part of the state where I live yet, I've only saw 2 or 3 in the woods and maybe that many roadkills. But I'm sure in a couple more years that will be something that I shoot but wont eat.

I eat what i shoot . . . to an extent. Deer, ducks, turkey, rabbit, they all get ate for sure. . . . but i like to shoot and everything i shoot i dont think will make very good table fare. I put a hellofa dent in the crow population around here, i aint eatin a crow. . . . aint eatin a yote, bobcat, stuff like that . . .they can feed each other. ;D
